The pagoda was built in the 3rd century AD. After many generations of repair and embellishment, until the reign of King Le Than Tong (17th century), the pagoda was awarded the title of "First famous place". History books record that when the kings and mandarins came here to worship and pray for peace, they were very inspired.
During the feudal period, Dau Pagoda was mainly for the Kings, for sightseeing, for worshiping, people could only attend the ceremony for three days with a festival, so it was called the King Pagoda. Here the Bodhisattva is incarnated as a female, so it is also known as Ba Pagoda. Since its inception, the temple has been famous for its sacredness. At the Ancestral Church of Dau Pagoda, there are currently 2 relatively intact corporeal statues of monks Vu Khac Minh and Vu Khac Truong. These are the first 2 corporal statues of the 4 corporal statues still in existence in Vietnam. Therefore, these two statues are likened to a sacred "national treasure" and are revered by the people as two living Buddhas. Legend has it that, 300 years ago, this temple had 2 abbots, uncle and nephew. My uncle is Vu Khac Minh, and you are Vu Khac Truong. Before his death, Zen master Vu Khac Minh told his disciples: I go to the temple to practice. After 3 months and 10 days, you will open the door of the temple. If you see a scent, paint the body, and if you see a bad smell, taken to bury, just as the teacher instructed 100 days later, the disciples opened the door and saw that his body was still emitting a fragrance, listened to the teacher's instructions, and the disciples immediately painted his body and built a shrine to worship. Ten years later, Vu Khac Truong's nephew also entered the temple to practice and passed away in the same sitting posture. . In May 1983, the statue of monk Vu Khac Minh was brought to the Institute of Archeology and was measured, researched and X-rayed to determine its value.
The statue of monk Vu Khac Minh weighs 7 kg, sitting height 57 cm. The body was left intact when embalmed, but after more than 300 years of existence, the bodies of the two men were still not damaged. This is something that even science cannot explain.
In addition to Dau Pagoda, so far in Vietnam, there are two other corporeal statues in Tieu Son and Phat Tich pagodas.
According to the late Great Elder Most Venerable Thich Thanh Tu, permanent member of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, said: "The physical remains of the Zen masters are a form of relics, the result of the process of using energy to reach attainment. the pinnacle of meditation that comes after burning it all away. It is the result of a very long process of experience in practice, eliminating all distractions of the Mind and attaining full enlightenment.

Next to Dau Pagoda, there is also Am pagoda - there is a special stone statue - Quan Am Luc Chi statue, but it is carved with a woman with pure Vietnamese features. According to the history books, this is a statue created according to a real person's model to pay tribute to Ngo Thi Ngoc Nguyen, who according to history books was a person in the palace of King Le-Chung Trinh who had merit in building a temple. Although it is a statue of Guanyin with six hands and three postures (symbolizing heaven, earth, and harmony), the meaning is like a statue of gratitude. On the occasion of 1000 years of Thang Long-HN, Dau Pagoda was funded by the State to restore and restore the upper house and two statues of Vu Khac Minh and Vu Khac Truong. In 2016, two statues were recognized by the State as national treasures.
